ADVANCE FOR SEPTEMBER 2010
FROM THE PEN OF THE DOM
We are happy to report an attendance of around 280 at the Sunday School Clinic at FBC Paris on August 18th. TBC
workers across the state were faculty for this very informative meeting. Every church pastor and Sunday School director
in the three associations should have been present to learn how to do a better job of communicating the Gospel through the
Sunday School. Unfortunately, too many of us, seemingly, take for granted that we know about all we need to know about
how to reach our community for Christ. The results of that mind-set is that WCBA churches’ Sunday School attendance continues to spiral downward. When only 25% of our church members in our association’s 44 churches are actively involved in Sunday School, the evangelistic arm of our churches, then we should not marvel that baptisms are also down. Thank God for the ones who do see the need to continue to sharpen their tools for ministry, missions, and evangelism. This event is held each year in August in preparation for the new church year and the new curriculum. Let’s encourage one another, especially those in leadership, to get involved in better planning, better preparation, and better performance of the task God has given us!
Christmas-in-August was a great success at the First Baptist Church , Gleason on Monday August 23, 2010. There was around 100 in attendance. The hospitality of FBC Gleason was sweet, warm and more than adequate for the occasion. Slides from the July summer mission trip to West Virginia were shown. An offering of around $3,500.00 was received for the P.A.C.E. fund. We are grateful and thankful for the support of the churches in this event. We also appreciate the WCBA WMU for their whole-hearted support of missions and allowing us to take the opportunity to show the work which is in progress in West Virginia.
While on the subject of West Virginia mission projects, let me tell a few things that are going on there with regard to the
new church plant efforts. Kevin Mullins is the North American Mission Board church planter in that area and is being
supported financially by NAMB, the West Virginia state convention, the Coalfields association, and Weakley County Baptists. We are all partnering together to support Kevin and his sweet family that consists of his wife, Angie, and four children. Kevin is working closely with the local association Director of Missions, Charlie Minney, and the West Virginia State mission director, Delton Beale in soul-winning, cultivating prospects, and setting up prayer groups with a view and intent of establishing a mission church somewhere in the Harts area of West Virginia. Let us all pray diligently and fervently that God will continue to lead in this effort. We know, and are sure, that He has led us this far and have no doubt that He will continue to do so.
As for the financial support which churches are giving, we are forwarding those monies on to the local association and they are administering the funds as needed by Kevin. All of this is under the watchful eye of NAMB and the West
Virginia State Convention located in Scotts Depot, West Virginia. The disclosure of this information is so that all of us in the associational office and the 44 churches can rest assured that the monies for this is being handled with as much integrity as we can generate. If you have any questions about any of this please feel free to call me and I will be happy to field your questions.
The Executive Committee will meet Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Bible Union Baptist Church between Martin and Dresden. Some very important information will be presented at this meeting so I hope all you who are representatives will attend. A power-point presentation from the Restructuring Team will be made at the meeting. A link to that power-point presentation is attached to the web-site. Just click on it and you will have some advance information.
The Golden Mission Emphasis will be September 12-17, 2010. This will stress the spiritual needs in the State of Tennessee and how we can help through our combined prayers and giving.
See you in church!

WCBA PASTORS’ CONFERENCE
God has richly blessed our association with a great group of pastors! On Monday morning we assemble at 10:00 A.M. for fellowship, preaching, testifying, and praying. Most of our pastors who come say they are lifted up and encouraged spiritually by attending this weekly gathering of fellow preachers and ministers. Bi-Vocational pastors are encouraged to come when it fits their schedule. They probably may not be able to come every week because of work, but sometimes they may be off work or on vacation, and when they are they would be blessed, indeed, to meet here at the mission center. Pastors and ministers love one another in Weakley County Baptist Association! We are so blessed!

Confidentiality and Informed Consent:
I acknowledge that I have been informed of Weslee Hill’s credentials and issues pertaining to confidentiality. Mrs. Hill has a Masters Degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, Charlotte, North Carolina in Christian Counseling and is pursuing licensure in Tennessee. Your time with Mrs. Hill is protected by confidentiality. This means that Mrs. Hill will not discuss the details of your case or your presence with anyone without your expressed written consent. The limits to confidentiality include suspected abuse of a child or a life threatening situation (to yourself or others). In rare occasions, a judge may court order the disclosure of confidential information. Your signature expresses that you understand the above information.

Special Issues in Working With Children
Confidentiality
With older children (teens) Weslee would prefer to have conversations as confidential as it would be with a legal adult. The child and parents will have a clear understanding that anything that is life threatening will be dealt with safely and recommendations will be made to the parents about dealing with the child in a way that protects confidential conversations with the child and Weslee. With younger children, Weslee will not mention anything about confidentiality to the child, but the family’s confidentiality will be protected.
Court Appearances and Recommendations
In most cases with children, there is not a need to appear in court. However, in some cases, (such as child custody) it needs to be extremely clear that it causes risk to the therapist/client rapport if reports are given to the courts with regard to any confidential conversations between the therapist and the child. If such information is needed, Weslee will be glad to refer to a competent child psychologist or counselor for evaluation purposes, but would choose to remain focused on counseling the child through the issues at hand. Therefore, signing this agreement waives your right to request that Mrs. Hill offer any information to the courts.

Financial Agreement
Counseling is a service that is the product of education, experience and ongoing professional training. Mrs. Hill continues to
invest in this service through participating in the development of her craft. The hourly rate charged is comparable other therapists with similar or fewer credentials as Mrs. Hill. If the hourly rates are not affordable, Mrs. Hill is committed to working out a plan that will be affordable to you. In some cases accessing assistance from your church may be possible.
Payment
Please offer payment at the beginning of each session. Checks are made payable to Weakley County Baptist Association.
Insurance
Since Mrs. Hill is working towards TN licensing, she is not currently covered by insurance and by signing this agreement, you are committing to pay any expenses not covered by insurance.
Cancellations
A missed appointment is a loss to everyone. Certainly, people make mistakes in scheduling and frankly, forget appointments at times. However, Mrs. Hill has reserved this time just for you and may not be able to fill the appointment on short notice. Please give 24 hour notice if you are not going to be able to come to your appointment. Failure to do so will result in a $50 charge that is not covered by outside payors.
