| On Sunday night, August 27, 1978, a group of people went to Maranatha Baptist Church (now Eastside Baptist Church) in Martin, Tennessee for the purpose of joining this church in order to begin a new work in McKenzie. Twenty-four persons went and seventeen people from the Enon Baptist church joined Maranatha Baptist Church at this time.
Bro. Horry Dungan, pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church preached a message from Matthew 28:18-20 entitled, "The Church's First Obligation." After the invitation was given, the 17 persons were presented to the church, wherein, by vote of the church they were received as memebers.
Bro. Walker told the church of the intentions of this group and the services were closed with prayer.
Then on September 10, 1978 the group had the organization service for the Long Heights Baptist Church in McKenzie
